The Taillight
I've gotten many emails about how I did the taillight and fender. Here it is.
It's the stock XL fender with a snap-in V-rod taillight. Was a bit tricky as the fender is a compound curve and the bottom of the taillight is flat. I worked with the body shop across the street from the local dealer on the work. Cutting, welding, and painting are needed. My idea, their labor on this one. Hole was cut, rolled steel welded in for the flat base, lots of grinding, then paint. The stock Vrod taillight just snaps in. Makes it easy to change bulbs. Oh, I haven't blown a bulb out since the taillight change.
When I got the fender home, I found that the taillight was right where the under-fender support goes. Bench grinder to the support, epoxy in a stop so the support won't rotate. The underside of the taillight is just chrome-looking plastic. I slathered on silicone sealant over the plastic for rock protection.
